About Jalon Valley 

Once you enter the Jalon valley, famous for its wines, it will steal your heart when you see the breathtaking beauty of the valley and its surroundings. Originally this valley was called: Valle de Pop. The valley is surrounded by many small villages, Jalon, Alcalali, Lliber, Parcent, Murla, Benichembla, Senija and Castell de Castells. Especially the first four villages are known by the tourists. Many Dutch and English made this valley their home.

 About Jalon Valley nature

The valley offers many forms of recreation, you have great walking routes here, and cyclists come here to train all year around, and he who likes mountain climbing should be very happy here. For those of us who like to come here and just relax there are plenty of terraces from where you can enjoy the scenery, while enjoying a cool drink or a glass of wine.

If you are a wine lover then you are here in the right spot in the Jalon valley, The valley is known for its sweet dessert wines like Moscatel and Mistela, and while you are there you can visit one of the bodega’s or if you like to go to the beach it is only twenty minutes away to the beach from Calpe or Moraira.

Jalon / Xalo

The village of Jalon or also named Xalo is the "capital” and it lays in the center of the valley surrounded by mountains named Penyo de la Mica, Sierra de Forner, the Castelett and the Sierra de Bernia. Jalon is a quiet village located land inwards from the Costa Blanca and is known for its vineyards surrounding the village.

You can enjoy here the scenic nature or take a stroll to the old town, where Calle Mayor and Plaza de Jason are the most visited spots in the village. You can also visit the bodega of the wine cooperation here you can taste and test the wines of this area and its surroundings. The prices that you pay here for a bottle of wine are far below that what you pay in the supermarkets. For a good bottle of wine, you pay here only a few Euros.

The Rio de Jalon is the most beautiful in the summer months. The low water level in combination with the many bushes and flowers in the riverbed making the riverbed a splendor for the eyes.

One other attraction in Jalon is the weekly junk market ( Rastro ) which is held every Saturday on the west side of the village. It is a market with about 200 stands. This is a real attraction every weekend. It starts around eight o’clock in the morning till about two o’clock in the afternoon.

A large part of the market consists of antiques and art pieces, this is what makes this market so special. He who takes the time to look has a chance to come home with some nice pieces.
